Outstanding Utah Fly Fishing

By Spencer Durrant | Lead Guide

Why book a day with us here at the Utah Fly Fishing Company? You have plenty of outfitters to choose from, so what exactly makes us worth your time and money?

Well, we’re virtually the only guide service that takes clients to the small waters surrounding Flaming Gorge and the Green River. The Green is a world-famous tailwater, and for good reason. It’s been one of my favorite places to fish for my entire life, and it’s hard to find another river in America that provides such fantastic fishing for such big trout.

The Green overshadows the rest of the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, and that’s where UFFC really shines. I grew up fishing streams like Deep Creek, Carter Creek, or Sheep Creek. They’re smaller waters for sure, but full of eager, acrobatic fish that take any fly that’s well-presented.

This means you can have a banner day of fly fishing, so long as you’re able to get a good drift. And even if you’ve never fly fished a day in your life, these streams are the perfect place to learn. Once you get the hang of the basics, a day on these streams and ponds will reward you with fish – and lots of them. It’s not uncommon to have 50-fish days.

Utah fly fishing is some of the most overlooked in the West. We have more public land than Colorado, more accessible rivers than Idaho, and our fishing licenses cost a lot less than Montana’s. Even for nonresidents, a fly fishing trip to Utah makes a lot more financial sense.

And it’s not like you’re giving up anything in the scenery – or the fishing – department.

Most clients prefer to throw dry flies at these fish, but we can – and will – accommodate any angling method you want to try. Interested in Euro nymphing? Yeah, we can spend a day doing that. Tenkara? Yep, we’ll help you figure that out.

At the end of the day, you have so many more opportunities to catch fish on a trip with UFFC than with most other walk-and-wade guide services. And since we’re not running trips in drift boats, you’re not out near as much money, either.

From brook trout, tiger trout, browns, rainbows, and cutthroat, to golden trout and grayling, there’s no shortage of incredible opportunity on a trip with UFFC.

The fly fishing here in Utah really is incredible, and it’d be a shame for you to miss out on it. Book your trip today.
